HPC Supported Research Projects

The NICADD's HPC contributed to every research project conducted at the laboratory since 2004. Today the cluster serves to more than 40 scientists and students from NIU, Fermilab, Argonne and CERN.

Active Research Projects

Advanced Accelerator R&D (AARD) group.

  • Research in Beam Physics and Accelerator Technology with emphasis on electron-beam generation, manipulations, acceleration, and diagnostics

High energy Physics, ATLAS experiment at CERN.

  • Searches for physics beyond the Standard Model through Higgs interactions

High Energy Physics, Detector research and development (DR&D)

  • Mu2e (E973) at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. T
  • Detector research and development (DR&D) efforts.
  • CMS experiment at CERN.
    • Hadron Calorimeter (HCAL) upgrade efforts
    • Measurement of Higgs Production Cross Section via Vector Boson Fusion in H -> ZZ -> 4l final state at 13 TeV using Deep Neural Networks

Theory Group

  • “Search for Vector Like Leptons (VLL)”, studies of the prospects for exclusion or discovery of VLL particles at the current 13 TeV LHC (also at high luminosities) and the future colliders (27 TeV and possibly 100 TeV) by looking for Multi-lepton final states.

Fermilab Muon Campus Accelerator Physics

  • GEANT + G4beamline simulations for Muon g-2 and Mu2e experiments
