HPC Supported Research Projects

The NICADD's HPC contributed to every research project conducted at the laboratory since 2004. Today the cluster serves to more than 40 scientists and students from NIU, Fermilab, Argonne and CERN.

  • Mu2e (E973) at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL). The experiment will search for Charge Lepton Flavor Violation (CLFV) in neutrino-less muon-to-electron conversion in a nuclear Coulomb field. The group contributing to the design, construction, and commissioning of the cosmic ray veto (CRV) and extinction monitoring detector systems plus the design and engineering of beamline elements.
  • Detector research and development (DR&D) efforts. Innovative design and maximized performance of future detectors base on scintillator/silicon photodetectors, with emphasis on cosmic ray rejection, high granularity calorimeters, and image quality neutrino detection.
