Overview of the T3 environment at NICADD
Introduction
Globus credentials, NICADD and lxplus computer accounts are required.
Project directories should be created in the /xdata/user/ space, default is /xdata/user/athena
(here and below replace 'user' with your login name).
The "/xdata" disk is accessible from all desktops and cluster nodes.
The "/bdata" disk is accessible from cluster nodes.
Please never store large data files in the home directory.
Use condor_status to check the condor system status.
Setup the atlas environment
SSH to t3int0.nicadd.niu.edu (known as t3int0 for nicadd desktops and pt3int0 for the cluster nodes).
- First login
[user@pt3int0 ~]$ copy globus credentials in ~/.globus
[user@pt3int0 ~]$ mkdir -p /xdata/user/athena
[user@pt3int0 ~]$ ln -s /xdata/user/athena
[user@pt3int0 ~]$ export ATLAS_LOCAL_ROOT_BASE='/cvmfs/atlas.cern.ch/repo/ATLASLocalRootBase'
[user@pt3int0 ~]$ alias setupATLAS='source ${ATLAS_LOCAL_ROOT_BASE}/user/atlasLocalSetup.sh'
Add last three lines in ~/.bashrc
[user@pt3int0 ~]$ setupATLAS
...Type localSetupDQ2Client to use DQ2 Client
...Type localSetupGanga to use Ganga
...Type localSetupGcc to use alternate gcc
...Type localSetupGLite to use GLite
...Type localSetupPacman to use Pacman
...Type localSetupPandaClient to use Panda Client
...Type localSetupROOT to setup (standalone) ROOT
...Type localSetupWlcgClientLite to use wlcg-client-lite

Grid middleware note:
gLite wlcg-client-lite are available on this machine.
Current value is gLite
The default value is set by the environment variable ALRB_useGridSW
possible values for ALRB_useGridSW: gLite wlcg-client-lite
*******************************************************************************
[user@pt3int0 ~]$ showVersions --show=dbrelease
[user@pt3int0 ~]$ showVersions --show=athena
Note:: above may take up to 20 min if dbrelease/athena catalogs were
not yet cashed in the cvmfs
Setup the athena project area
Create test area (/xdata/user/athena) and choose release (17.8.0)
[user@pt3int0 ~]$ setupATLAS
[user@pt3int0 ~]$ mkdir /xdata/user/athena
[user@pt3int0 ~]$ ln -s /xdata/user/athena ~/athena
[user@pt3int0 ~]$ mkdir ~/athena/AtlasOffline-17.8.0
[user@pt3int0 ~]$ asetup 17.8.0,slc6
Note:: Above setup is for illustration only, please use the most recent ATLAS tutorials for the interactive work (for example "hello world" for the first Athena program)
