LC Muon Minutes
LC Local Muon Group Meeting Minutes 5-3-02
Attendees: Gene Fisk, Arthur Maciel, Ray Stefanski, Dhiman
Chakraborty, Daniel Elvira, Jerry Blazey (briefly), Caroline
Milstein, Dave Hedin
- Dhiman presented an overview of the state of affairs
around the world for LC simulation software. Ideally a completely
flexible set of code can be produced in coodination with the
European and Asian efforts. NIU will join CALICE soon and
try and use Mokka (interface to GEANT4 - allows flecible
geometry). Norman Graf and Dhiman are generating a work list
soon.
Dhiman's talk
- Arthur is using the SLAC LCD/JAS framework and geometry. He showed some
studies of muon leakage in ZZ events. As some events had prompt muons and some
did not, there was some confusion about the hadronic leakage rate. Better
understanding of the initial event would allow this study to be
essentially complete. We may have some NIU summer students
continue this.
Arthur's talk and other recent AM talks
- Gene presented some items show at St. Malo, in particular Marcello
Piccolo's studies of decays and punchthroughs (the rest of his
St. Malo talk was not presnted at this meeting). The attendees did not
understand all of Mercello's plots (especially his cataloging
of particle types).
Gene's complete St. Malo talk
- Caroline showed some studies of dispersion in a calorimeter and
how it differs between electromagnetic and hadronic showers versus
layer
- There were discussions scattered throughout the meeting on this
group's plans for the summer. One question: who is attending Santa Cruz.
Neither Gene, Dave, or Arthur were planning on attending and the hope was
that Mitch Wayne would. Gene will try to schedule summer
meetings with the next meeting being in early June.
